The Team Julian
Founder of Metres To Miles, Julian has worked in the sports trade for a major sportswear brand for several years prior to starting Metres to Miles. His work saw Julian travelling the world to learn about the technologies incorporated in to the design of technical running shoes. Julian is now able to pass this on to his staff and on to you in store. Having visited leading design studios and worked alongside designers Julian has an in-depth knowledge of how shoes work on different foot types. Hes worked at and conducted gait assesments at expo events at the major marathons and the World Athletics Championships.
Julian was also an international runner, competing numerous times for Great Britain and Northern Ireland and for England on the track (both indoors and out), road and cross country. These appearances included two appearances in the World Cross Country Championships, in Marrakesh and Belfast. He also ran the World Road Relay Championships in Brazil. Julian still runs most days around the Isleand plans to run more on the roads now his track days are gone!
Dave Former Isle resident and main cup of tea maker Dave also brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the store. Still competing and now competing in the veterans age group, Daves running ambitions still lay within the road racing scene, which was the surface he enjoyed best and one he lead at several years ago. Dave competed at the highest level, running for Great Britain & Northern Ireland. These appearances included two World Championships.
Dave is pictured at the Great North Run in 2010 (on the right - no just kidding) with Haile Gebrsellasie, Olympic 10,000 metres Champion and the greatest distance runner ever to have lived.
Dave is now heavily involved in coaching and he likes to pass on his vast experience to both his own successful group of athletes and also to people of all abilities looking to benefit from leading an active lifestyle.
